What I’ve got
so far.
Grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. My mom sang alto in the choir at Greater Hope Baptist. My dad coached my rec league soccer for two seasons and I think the other kids on the team got more words out of him than I did.
Found my mom’s Lauryn Hill CD when I was eleven and played it until it skipped. Then Cudi, Frank Ocean, Radiohead, Burial, everything. Started writing at fourteen — not rapping, just writing. A notebook I told people was for English class.
By sixteen I was recording voice memos over YouTube instrumentals in my bedroom at two or three in the morning. I sang close to the mic because the house was full and asleep, and a close, quiet vocal was the only kind the room could hold. Turned out I liked it there.
Towson for three years. Studied communications, hated it, switched to English, dropped out in 2018. Moved to a shared house in Remington and made a lot of bad songs on a ninety-dollar USB mic. Some of them became the starting point for what I’m making now.
I live in East Baltimore now. I work part-time at a bookstore in Fells Point. The owner knows I make music but has never asked to hear it, which is honestly a relief.
